Software Engineer (.NET Developer)
About the role
The Software Engineer (.NET Developer) will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting enterprise applications in a financial services environment. The role involves working with C#, ASP.NET Web Forms, .NET Framework, SQL Server, and Entity Framework to deliver scalable solutions, resolve production issues, and support system enhancements within an Agile team. The position is part of the Singapore Global Project Team and is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, focusing on financial technology and regulatory technology projects. Candidates should have strong technical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Must have
- At least 4 years of experience in C#, ASP.NET Web Forms, .NET Framework, Microsoft SQL Server, and Entity Framework, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong experience developing, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale legacy enterprise applications while ensuring system stability and performance.
- Good understanding of ASP.NET Classic/Web Forms architecture, state management, server controls, application lifecycle, and related web technologies.
- Experience designing and implementing business applications and reusable software components following established development standards and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of relational database design, SQL, stored procedures, query optimization, and performance tuning (especially in T-SQL).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, analyze existing codebases, and identify practical solutions within classic systems.
- Experience working with and extending existing applications, with the ability to quickly understand complex business logic and historical design decisions.
- Familiarity with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) concepts and the ability to model business processes and regulatory requirements into maintainable software solutions.
- Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum or Kanban methodologies and participating in CI/CD practices.
- Strong technical writing skills with experience producing technical documentation, solution design documents, API specifications, architecture diagrams, support documentation, and implementation guides.
- Strong focus on code quality, maintainability, scalability, and long-term supportability.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a team.
- Experience supporting software releases, deployments, production issues, and client-facing technical investigations.
- Ability to engage and influence at all levels of the business.
- Strong verbal, presentation, and written skills.
- Independent problem-solving and self-directing abilities.
- Self-driven and flexible with high motivation.
- Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects.
- Willingness to support and mentor junior staff.
- Recognised university degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
Nice to have
- Experience with Azure services, .NET Core/.NET Classic (WinForm, CLI), jQuery, Angular, ReactJS/NextJS, Python, Azure Functions/AWS Lambda, and Logic Apps will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of financial markets, regulatory reporting, or financial technology platforms will be an advantage.
- Experience with AI system development is a plus.
