Lead Engineer, .NET and Azure
About the role
Visco Horeca is seeking a Lead Engineer for their new engineering team in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The role involves hands-on development with .NET and Azure, guiding a small team, and taking technical ownership of the company's integration platform and data/reporting systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the product owner in the Netherlands, provide first-line support, and help the team grow into full platform ownership. The position offers direct impact on business-critical systems, opportunities for certification, and travel to the Netherlands for operational immersion.
Must have
- Several years of hands-on experience with .NET and cloud infrastructure, preferably on Azure
- A track record of being the person others come to when something breaks
- Experience guiding or mentoring engineers, formally or otherwise
- Comfortable reading code and logs that someone else wrote, and working out what actually happened
- Solid SQL, and a working understanding of JSON, REST APIs and message-based integration
- Good written and spoken English, because you will be in daily direct contact with colleagues in the Netherlands
- The judgement to know when to escalate and when to solve it yourself

- Python, TypeScript, Power BI, Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions or ERP integration experience

Highlights
Applications are due by 5 October, with interviews in Colombo and Negombo on 21-23 October (travel costs covered). The role is office-based in Colombo with some flexibility for remote work after onboarding. Salary is above market rate for Colombo IT export companies. Medical insurance for family, EPF/ETF, and certification costs are covered. Schengen visa and travel for Netherlands visits are arranged by the company.
