Lead DevOps Engineer
About the role
The Lead DevOps Engineer will work closely with DevOps & Cloud Engineering and software engineering teams to build, automate, and support cloud infrastructure and DevOps capabilities for the organization's digital product portfolio. This hands-on role emphasizes AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CI/CD, and automation. Responsibilities include building and maintaining AWS infrastructure, implementing IaC, automating processes, supporting deployments, troubleshooting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role also involves contributing to technical standards, documentation, and staying updated with emerging technologies.
Must have
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with AWS is required; experience with other cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure is advantageous.
- Experience with Git/Bitbucket and CI/CD concepts.
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Practical scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including networking, identity and access management, and security.
- Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud environments.
- Experience with AWS Amplify, DynamoDB, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudFormation, WAF, IAM, and Jenkins is highly desirable.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude) and familiarity with integrating LLM APIs into workflows.
- Understanding of modern software development practices, including source control, pull requests, and code reviews.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to take ownership of assigned work and drive tasks through to completion.
- Willingness to occasionally work outside standard business hours, including weekends, when required.
