Lead Enterprise architect
About the role
As a Lead Enterprise Architect, you will set the technical direction for a delivery organization comprising eight teams, ensuring their work aligns into a coherent architecture. You will translate business goals into an overarching architecture strategy, define and maintain standards and reference designs, and stay hands-on by prototyping, reviewing designs and code, and unblocking teams on key technical decisions. The role involves coaching architects and engineers, making and explaining trade-offs, and aligning multiple teams through influence rather than direct authority. The position is with Virtusa, with the specific location to be confirmed, and operates in a hybrid work model.
Must have
- Turn a business vision into a clear, end-to-end architecture strategy across solution, integration, and deployment domains.
- Set architecture standards and reference designs — including security and compliance requirements — that many teams build to consistently.
- Work hands-on with real depth in at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud): prototyping, reviewing, and resolving concrete technical problems.
- Align and steer several delivery teams toward shared goals through influence rather than direct authority.
- Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineers and business stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with an architecture framework such as TOGAF.
- Experience designing integration and event-driven systems that span many teams.
