Senior Data & Backend Engineer
About the role
ChampSoft is seeking a Senior Data & Backend Engineer to join their Healthcare Analytics Platform team. This hybrid role involves data engineering, database development, and Python backend/API development, focusing on building reliable healthcare data pipelines, analytics-ready data models, savings opportunity engines, and secure backend APIs. The position requires working with complex healthcare datasets, ensuring data accuracy, performance, security, and auditability, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready solutions. The company operates in regulated industries and values engineering excellence, transparency, and a collaborative approach.
Must have
- 5+ years of professional software, backend or data engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on Python development experience.
- Strong production experience with FastAPI, Flask or an equivalent Python API framework.
- Excellent knowledge of SQL, including complex joins, aggregations, window functions, stored procedures and query optimisation.
- Strong practical experience with Snowflake.
- Strong practical experience with PostgreSQL.
- Experience designing relational database schemas and analytical data models.
- Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and production data-processing workflows.
- Experience with data validation, reconciliation and data-quality frameworks.
- Experience working with orchestration technologies such as Airflow, SSIS or similar platforms.
- Experience with AWS S3 or equivalent cloud-based file and data ingestion.
- Strong understanding of REST API design and backend architecture.
- Experience with automated unit and integration testing.
- Understanding of application security, database security and secure handling of sensitive data.
- Ability to troubleshoot database, application and data-pipeline issues in production.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
