Software Engineer Intern
About the role
Pentagon i Runway is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for a full-time, on-site position in Colombo. The intern will assist in designing, developing, and testing software components for enterprise applications, working closely with senior engineers. Responsibilities include writing and reviewing code, debugging, participating in code reviews, and contributing to back-end web development. The role offers exposure to modern tools and methodologies, as well as opportunities to collaborate with cross-functional teams and learn best practices in software engineering.
Must have
- Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts such as data structures, algorithms, and databases.
- Practical skills in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), with experience in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, C#, Python, or similar).
- Knowledge of Software Development principles, including version control, testing, and debugging.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team, follow technical guidance, and communicate clearly in English.
- Interest in enterprise systems, digital transformation, and learning new technologies and tools.
- Strong problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to take initiative in assigned tasks.
Nice to have
- Exposure to Back-End Web Development, APIs, and server-side frameworks is an advantage.
