About the role

This is a six-month fixed-term project employment role to lead the development of an in-house ERP system for Sarasavi Bookshop's retail operations. The position combines hands-on programming, technical leadership, and project delivery within a small engineering team. Responsibilities include translating business needs into technical specifications, leading system design and coding, mentoring engineers, managing project milestones and risks, ensuring quality and security, and coordinating testing, deployment, and documentation.

Must have

5+ years of hands-on development, leading a small team and delivering ERP, POS, inventory or similar systems.
Python; preferably FastAPI, SQLAlchemy and Alembic.
React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
PostgreSQL: schema design, transactions, indexing, query optimisation and large datasets.
Microsoft SQL Server, migration and reconciliation; familiarity with SQLite.
REST APIs, system integration and reliable data synchronisation.
Git, automated testing, Docker, Windows/Linux and deployment.
Authentication, role-based access, audit trails, backups and recovery.
Purchasing, inventory, sales, returns and financial reconciliation.
Work estimation, prioritisation, problem-solving and clear communication.

Nice to have

PySide6/Qt desktop development and POS peripheral integration.
Multi-branch systems with offline capability.
Performance testing, deployment automation and monitoring.
