Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer
About the role
EFL Global is seeking a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join their Global IT team in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The role involves designing and executing comprehensive test strategies across both manual and automated testing, with a focus on improving test coverage, automation frameworks, and quality standards. The engineer will collaborate closely with Frontend, Backend, and Product Management teams, and will leverage modern AI-assisted engineering tools to enhance QA practices. Key responsibilities include evolving test architecture, using AI tools like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot, and sharing knowledge within the team. Candidates should have a strong background in JavaScript/TypeScript, experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress or Playwright, and a proven track record in QA and test automation.
Must have
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in QA and test automation.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript skills with solid manual testing experience, including test case design and execution.
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or similar.
- Familiarity with Web API and web application testing, with working knowledge of SQL for data validation.
- Proven experience leading end-to-end test strategies for projects.
- Experience using AI tools to improve testing workflows, with the ability to evaluate AI-generated outputs critically.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability, including distinguishing product defects from test-related issues.
- Sound understanding of testing methodologies with strong collaboration and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to ownership, practical decision-making, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.
