Bioinformatician
About the role
Wulfstan Analytics is seeking a Bioinformatician to support the analysis and interpretation of various biomedical datasets, including genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical data, for healthcare, life sciences, and research projects. The role involves analyzing high-throughput biological data, developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines, performing sequence analysis, integrating molecular and clinical data, and preparing technical reports and visualizations. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience, strong computational biology skills, and proficiency with bioinformatics tools and programming languages. The company values clear communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetics or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in bioinformatics, computational biology or related research.
- Experience using Python, R, Bash, Linux and common bioinformatics tools.
- Understanding of molecular biology, genetics, genomics and next-generation sequencing workflows.
- Experience with biological databases, sequence formats, data quality control and visualization.
- Ability to write clear, reproducible and well-documented analytical code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and high attention to detail and accuracy.
Nice to have
- Experience with WGS, WES, RNA-seq, single-cell analysis, metagenomics, GWAS or related workflows.
- Familiarity with workflow systems and containers such as Nextflow, Snakemake, Docker or Singularity.
- Knowledge of cloud or high-performance computing environments, Git and reproducible research practices.
- Familiarity with clinical or biomedical research, data privacy, scientific publications and manuscript preparation.
