Associate Technical Lead
About the role
The Associate Technical Lead at Sysco LABS will be responsible for owning the design and code quality of software components, guiding and mentoring junior engineers, and stepping in for the team lead or manager when needed. The role involves technical delivery, architecture, release management, and contributing to cloud platform design and DevOps practices. The position also requires strong stakeholder management, communication skills, and active participation in technical communities and hiring processes. Candidates should have a strong background in software engineering, leadership readiness, and a curiosity-driven mindset to foster innovation within the team. Must have
- Strong command of design patterns, reference architectures, and secure/data-privacy-aware coding practices, including in AI-assisted contexts.
- Practical experience with concurrency, parallel programming, and multiple programming paradigms.
- Working knowledge of cloud platform design and core DevOps/DevSecOps concepts.
- Ability to evaluate frameworks, tools, and AI-assisted development output for quality, security, and business fit.
- Demonstrated readiness to lead a team in a manager's absence, with sound judgment on delegation.
- Strong stakeholder communication, adaptable to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven mentorship ability, particularly in guiding juniors' technical growth and AI tool adoption.
- A curiosity-driven mindset that fosters innovation and experimentation within the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including demonstrated ownership of component-level design and code quality as a Senior Software Engineer.
