Design & Production Lead
About the role
The Design & Production Lead will oversee the night shift at Zephyr's Market's Colombo-area facility, leading a small team to design and improve 3D-printed products in CAD, manage print files, and ensure the print farm runs smoothly. Responsibilities include maintaining and troubleshooting 32 printers, quality control, and working live with the owner during US hours. The role requires hands-on experience in FDM 3D printing, CAD design, and leadership, with a focus on improving production processes and maintaining strict standards. The position is full-time, on-site, and operates Monday to Friday nights, with weekends off and a paid ride home after each shift.
Must have
- At least 3 years designing parts in CAD (for example Fusion 360, SolidWorks or Onshape), including parts that were actually made. Send photos or files.
- Hands-on FDM 3D printing: slicing (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer), materials such as PLA, PETG and TPU, and fixing failed prints.
- Has led a small team, a shift or a workshop, or trained other people.
- Good spoken and written English. You will work with the owner in English every night.
- Able to work Monday to Friday nights, 7:30 PM – 4:30 AM Sri Lanka time, at our facility.
Nice to have
- An engineering degree or diploma (BSc Eng, NDT, HNDE or similar), or a technical NVQ at Level 5 or above.
- Running several printers at once, or print-farm software such as SimplyPrint or Bambu Farm Manager.
- Designing for production: tolerances, fasteners, snap fits and fewer parts per product.
- Printer electronics and firmware: replacing boards, sensors and hotends.

Highlights
The role is strictly night shift, Monday to Friday, 7:30 PM – 4:30 AM Sri Lanka time, aligning with US hours. The position is on-site in Wattala, LK, and includes weekends off, EPF and ETF contributions, and a paid ride home after every shift.
