Senior Data Quality Engineer
About the role
The Senior Data Quality Engineer will be responsible for defining test strategies and planning, validating data models and reports, executing test cases for data pipelines and ETL processes, and contributing to the development of Python-based automation frameworks. The role involves preparing and maintaining test cases, performing data validation checks, documenting data issues, and participating in Agile sprint activities. Candidates should have a relevant degree and 1–3 years of experience in software or data quality engineering, with strong SQL and Python skills, and familiarity with QA methodologies and Agile tools. The position is based in Colombo on a hybrid, renewable contract basis within the software industry.
Must have
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in Software or Data Quality Engineering (ETL/BI testing exposure is a plus)
- Good knowledge of SQL, with the ability to write and validate queries
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python for test automation or data validation
- A good understanding of software testing principles and QA methodologies
- Experience working in Agile environments and familiarity with tools like Jira and Confluence
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- The willingness to learn and grow in data engineering and quality engineering practices
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work
Nice to have
- Exposure to cloud data platforms (e.g., GCP) is an added advantage

Highlights
The role is a hybrid position located in Colombo - 03, with standard Monday to Friday working hours. Employment is on a renewable contract basis, starting with an initial 6-month contract that may be extended to a 1-year renewable contract based on performance.
