Senior Tech Lead
About the role
Intervest is seeking a Senior Tech Lead to provide strategic technical leadership, shape enterprise-wide technology direction, and lead high-performing engineering teams across multiple products and platforms. The role involves defining technical strategy, driving architectural excellence, leading system modernization, and championing innovation, particularly in AI-powered engineering practices. The successful candidate will have significant experience in full-stack development, architecture, and leading engineering teams, with a strong focus on aligning technology with business objectives and customer value. Intervest is a dynamic technology and shared services provider for the Staysure Group and Howsam Capital ecosystem, offering opportunities to work on diverse ventures in InsurTech, TravelTech, Retail, and Logistics.
Must have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Approximately 10+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience leading engineering teams and technical initiatives.
- Demonstrated success delivering complex technology solutions and influencing technical strategy at organisational level.
- Strong hands-on experience across Frontend, Backend, Cloud, and Architecture domains.
- Expert knowledge of React.js and modern frontend ecosystems.
- Strong backend engineering experience using Node.js or similar backend technologies.
- Proven experience designing and implementing scalable distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and cloud-native applications.
- Ability to move comfortably between hands-on engineering discussions and high level architectural planning.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, system design principles, and architectural trade-offs.
- Experience solving complex technical challenges across multiple products, teams, and platforms.
- Deep understanding of scalability, reliability, performance optimisation, security, and modern DevOps practices.
- Ability to demonstrate technical decisions with clear rationale and measurable outcomes.
- Strong product-thinking capability with a focus on customer outcomes and business value
- Ability to evaluate technology investments through strategic and commercial lenses rather than purely technical considerations.
- Proven capability to influence product direction and organisational technology strategy.
- Strong interest in and practical experience leveraging AI-powered tools and modern engineering accelerators.
- Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities where AI and automation can improve software development, operational efficiency, or customer experience.
- Growth mindset with a willingness to continuously adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams of 15+ engineers across multiple products or business functions.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to coach engineers from junior through senior levels while fostering a culture of ownership and technical excellence.
- Strong decision-making, prioritisation, and organisational leadership capabilities.
