Senior Quality Engineer
About the role
The Senior Quality Engineer role is a contract position based in Sri Lanka within the software industry. The position involves developing and executing test strategies, validating data models and reports, ensuring data accuracy, and supporting the full analytics lifecycle from data ingestion to reporting. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining test cases, performing data validation, writing SQL queries, contributing to Python-based automation frameworks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role also requires maintaining proper documentation and participating in Agile activities. Candidates should have a relevant bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in software or data quality engineering, with skills in SQL, Python, and Agile methodologies. Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Software Quality Engineering, Data Quality Engineering, or a related role.
- Good knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write and validate queries.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of Python for test automation or data validation.
- Good understanding of software-testing principles, QA methodologies, and defect-management processes.
- Experience preparing test plans, test cases, test data, and execution results.
- Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
- Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments.
- Good understanding of data models, ETL processes, data transformations, reports, and dashboards.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to delivering accurate, high-quality work.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Willingness to learn and develop further in data engineering and quality-engineering practices.
- Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple testing assignments.
Nice to have
- Experience in ETL testing, BI testing, data-pipeline testing, or analytics testing will be an advantage.
- Exposure to cloud data platforms such as Google Cloud Platform will be an advantage.
