Network Specialist
About the role
The Network Specialist at The SM Records Ltd is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the company's network infrastructure to ensure reliable connectivity for digital distribution, rights management systems, and internal operations. Key duties include configuring and managing network devices, diagnosing and resolving network issues, implementing security measures, and collaborating with technical and operations teams. The role also involves documenting network configurations, optimizing network performance, applying updates, and supporting network-related projects. The position is part-time and hybrid, based in Colombo, with some flexibility for remote work. The SM Records Ltd is a global music distribution and digital rights management company focused on supporting creators and protecting intellectual property across major streaming platforms.
Must have
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Network Administration and general Networking for managing and supporting enterprise network environments.
- Candidates should possess skills in Troubleshooting and Network Design to diagnose issues and implement effective, scalable network solutions.
- Candidates should possess skills in Network Security to safeguard infrastructure, protect data, and support secure access to digital platforms.
- Relevant experience with switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks in small to mid-sized business environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and clear documentation practices.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with cloud services, content delivery networks, or streaming platforms is beneficial.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or similar credentials are an advantage.
