Senior Data Engineer - ETL + Azure Synapse
About the role
Gallagher is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join their Global Data Operations team. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of enterprise data platforms, including insurance and financial data warehouses. The position involves leading complex technical initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, and driving enhancements to data platforms. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting advanced data and integration issues, improving data quality and governance, optimizing data pipelines and system scalability, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and enhancing CI/CD pipelines. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in data-centric support operations and data engineering, strong technical skills with tools such as Azure Data Stack, Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, and Power BI, and excellent leadership and problem-solving abilities. Must have
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6–8+ years in data-centric support operations, with 3+ years in data engineering roles.
- Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and performance tuning, with hands-on experience in tools like Azure Data Stack, Snowflake, DBT, Fivetran, and Power BI.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management abilities, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
