Senior Software Engineer – React Native
About the role
The Senior Software Engineer – React Native role is a 6 to 12 month contract position, working remotely on Singaporean time and calendar. The engineer will design, build, and maintain high-quality iOS and Android applications, taking ownership of features from technical design through release and production support. Responsibilities include developing React Native features, managing application state with Redux Toolkit, integrating REST APIs and native capabilities, ensuring performance and security, writing tests, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position requires strong experience in React Native, mobile architecture, API integration, native modules, testing, and mobile security, along with proficiency in relevant tools and technologies.
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years building production React Native applications
- Strong proficiency in React Native, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, functional components, and React hooks
- Hands-on experience with Redux Toolkit, including asynchronous workflows and selectors
- Experience with React Navigation: stack navigation, nested navigators, typed routes, and deep linking
- Experience building feature-based mobile architectures with reusable components, services, APIs, hooks, and state management
- Strong REST API integration experience using Axios, interceptors, authentication, retry handling, and network connectivity management
- Experience with mobile databases such as Realm, including schema design, migrations, caching, and offline data handling
- Understanding of native modules for React Native, TurboModules, Codegen, and native-platform integration
- Working knowledge of Swift/Objective-C (iOS) or Kotlin/Java (Android); experience across both platforms is preferred
- Experience with Jest, React Native Testing Library, unit testing, integration testing, and test coverage
- Familiarity with the React Native development and release toolchain: Xcode, CocoaPods, Android Studio, Gradle, Metro, and Yarn
- Experience with Firebase, Sentry, push notifications, analytics, remote configuration, and production monitoring
- Knowledge of mobile security, including secure storage, authentication, TLS, certificate pinning, and protection of sensitive data
- Experience managing development, staging, and production builds and releasing apps on the App Store and Google Play
- Strong problem-solving, code review, mentoring, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills
Nice to have
- Experience with Apple HealthKit, Health Connect, Highcharts, WebViews, and white-label mobile applications
- Knowledge of Flutter and Dart, or experience building cross-platform applications with Flutter
