Database Administrator
About the role
XPAND is seeking a Database Administrator (DBA) to join their onsite team in Sri Lanka. The role involves managing, maintaining, securing, and optimizing database systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance for enterprise-scale technology solutions serving global clients. Key responsibilities include installing and administering database servers, ensuring database security and integrity, monitoring and optimizing performance, implementing backup and disaster recovery procedures, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other technical teams. The position requires 2–5 years of experience in database administration, hands-on experience with major relational database platforms, and a relevant bachelor's degree. Must have
- 2–5 years of experience in database administration or a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with one or more database platforms, such as: Oracle Database, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Similar relational database platforms
- Strong understanding of database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience with high availability, performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of database security, access controls, and data protection practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, cloud technologies, or database administration will be considered an advantage.
