Data Engineering Tech Lead
About the role
The Technical Lead – Data Engineering role is responsible for leading requirement gathering, translating business needs into technical specifications, and guiding engineering teams in designing and developing scalable, high-performance data solutions. The position oversees the design and implementation of complex data models, data pipelines, and enterprise data integration solutions, as well as the adoption of AI-driven tools and cloud infrastructure management across GCP and AWS. The role also involves driving Infrastructure as Code practices, optimizing cloud utilization, establishing engineering standards, and mentoring Data Engineers. The position is with InTalent Asia's client in Colombo-03, working in the software industry with a hybrid work arrangement and standard weekday hours.
Must have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in Data Engineering, including at least 2 years of engineering team leadership experience.
- Strong expertise in Python, SQL, and Shell Scripting.
- Hands-on experience with Medallion Architecture, dimensional data modeling, and real-time data streaming.
- Extensive experience working with cloud platforms, particularly GCP and AWS.
- Strong knowledge of ETL design, development, and data integration solutions.
- Experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Run, GKE, AWS S3, Lambda, and related cloud services.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
- Experience working with Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar automation tools.
- Knowledge of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimization strategies.
- Experience leading teams within Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, vulnerability management, compliance, and infrastructure governance.
- Excellent communication, leadership, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to collaborate with international teams and align working hours when required.
