Associate Technical Lead (API)
About the role
The Associate Technical Lead (API) at Intrepid Travel is responsible for creating well-designed APIs that connect platforms and teams globally. The role involves working closely with Product Owners, engineers, and technical experts to turn integration needs into practical solutions, while also mentoring and coaching fellow engineers. Key responsibilities include technical delivery, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and driving best practices in API performance, reliability, and security. The position is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and offers a hybrid work environment. Applicants should have strong experience in backend development, RESTful API design, database integration, and cloud technologies.
Must have
- 4+ years’ experience in software engineering, including providing technical leadership to engineers.
- Strong experience building backend applications using Node.js, JavaScript and TypeScript, with a focus on clean, maintainable code, testing, and engineering best practices.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and integrations in production environments.
- Confidence taking ownership of features/ workstreams from design through to delivery.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases (such as PostgreSQL, MSSQL or MongoDB) including database design and backend integration.
- Experience in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with AWS or similar, CI/CD practices, and automated deployment workflows.
