About the role

The Associate WordPress Developer at The Web Sushi will support the design, development, and maintenance of WordPress websites in a full-time, on-site role based in Colombo. Responsibilities include building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins, implementing front-end layouts, ensuring responsive and user-friendly interfaces, collaborating with designers and senior developers, troubleshooting issues, and optimizing website performance and security. The role also involves assisting with content updates, third-party integrations, and adhering to best practices in coding, accessibility, and SEO. The Web Sushi is a rapidly growing digital solutions company focused on innovative, client-centered web and software development.

Must have

Front-End Development and Responsive Web Design skills to create accessible, mobile-friendly WordPress interfaces.
Web Design skills to support layout, UI/UX considerations, and brand-consistent visual presentation.
Web Development and Back-End Web Development skills to configure WordPress, manage databases, and implement custom functionality.
Experience with WordPress themes and plugins, including customization using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and basic debugging tools.
Understanding of SEO fundamentals, performance optimization, and website security best practices.
Ability to collaborate in a team environment, communicate clearly, and manage tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
