Software Engineer Intern
About the role
Gen Code, a Gen Z-driven tech startup, is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join their founding team. The intern will work directly on real client projects, including mobile applications, websites, and POS systems, gaining hands-on experience in a startup environment. Responsibilities include collaborating with the team on development tasks, participating in project planning and client meetings, maintaining code quality, assisting with testing and deployment, and contributing ideas for process improvement. The role is ideal for undergraduates or recent graduates in relevant fields who are eager to learn and build a portfolio while working on real-world projects.
Must have
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related fields.
- Basic knowledge of Flutter / React Native / React.js / Node.js / Web Development / POS Systems.
- Familiarity with Git, version control, and collaborative development tools.
- Good communication skills and willingness to learn.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work independently.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate project timelines.
Nice to have
- Based in Colombo or nearby suburbs (for occasional in-person meetings).
- Experience with mobile app development or website projects is a plus.
- Previous freelance or project-based work experience is a bonus.
- Passion for tech, startups, and learning by doing.
