Senior Lead Software Engineer
About the role
Veracity Digital, an AI-native technology and engineering company, is seeking a Senior Lead Software Engineer to join their team. The role involves defining and driving the technical roadmap and architecture for an enterprise web application that integrates deterministic business rules with LLM/agent orchestration. The engineer will own system design, including frontend-backend data contracts, security, and integration, and will lead and mentor a team of engineers. Responsibilities also include delivery management, stakeholder alignment, and ensuring the platform is production-ready within a set timeframe. Candidates should have a BSc in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience), 6 to 8+ years of software engineering experience, and at least 3 years in a tech lead role. The position requires strong technical and soft skills, including experience with React, TypeScript, containerised APIs, PostgreSQL, identity and security integration, rules engines, CI/CD, and AI automation tools.
Must have
- BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Typically 6 to 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading as tech lead on systems that run in production.
- Production experience with React and TypeScript SPAs that have complex forms and workflows, enough to lead a React 19 team and review their code.
- Containerised APIs and PostgreSQL in production, versioned API/data contracts and schema evolution between services, plus multi-party or multi-tenant data, audit trails and idempotency.
- OIDC/SAML SSO integrated into an application, with role-based access control.
- Hands-on experience with explicit business rules or rules engines (versioning, testing, safe rollback), keeping deterministic logic authoritative, and familiarity with LLM/agent orchestration (e.g., LangChain) including tool-calling, guardrails and evals.
- CI/CD fluency with automated test gates, and close work with DevOps on production hardening.
- Strategic oversight of AI developer tools and agentic platforms (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) across the engineering team.
- Good communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to bridge technical requirements and business value clearly.
- A track record of mentoring software engineers and associate engineers, building team confidence, ownership and engineering excellence.
- Clear technical writing (ADRs, contracts, runbooks) that explains system architecture to technical and non-technical partners.
