BI Developer - Analytics & AI
About the role
The BI Developer - Analytics & AI role focuses on supporting an Analytics and AI transformation by designing, building, and optimizing dashboards and reports for strategic and operational stakeholders. The position requires strong data visualization and dashboard design skills, particularly with Microsoft Power BI on a modern cloud data platform. Responsibilities include collaborating with business and analytics teams, improving existing BI products, ensuring data quality, working with data engineers, training users, managing BI change requests, and implementing security measures. The role is contract-based and offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing Data, Analytics & AI function within a digital-first financial institution.
Must have
- A degree or professional qualification in a computing, engineering, quantitative or business discipline.
- 3–4 years delivering production BI in an enterprise environment, including reporting used by senior management. Candidates with less experience may be considered for a junior role.
- Strong Power BI skills: semantic modelling, star schemas, DAX and Power Query, with sound judgement on Import, Direct Query and composite models.
- Working SQL knowledge, with an eye on query performance, warehouse sizing and refresh strategy to control BI cost and response time.
- Power BI Service administration: workspaces, deployment pipelines, datasets, gateways and refresh management.
- Design judgement to wireframe first and build clear, accessible dashboards for executive and operational users, with row-level security, sensitivity labelling and data quality and freshness indicators built in.
- Disciplined delivery and clear communication: requirements capture, sign-off, testing, version control, change request management and training non-technical users.
Nice to have
- Microsoft PL-300 certification is desirable.
- Financial services experience is an advantage.
